I have a pocked pc IPAQ. I have the 2002 version. With the CD that came with my IPAQ, the StarTap was available in a limited version. I recently paid the $20.00 inorder to benefit from the full version. When I got ready to down load the StarTap on my IPAQ and it would not reload. What should I do?

On January 11th, this year, I purchased your StarTap+ software for my iPaq 3670. This last weekend, I upgraded to PocketPC 2002 and also installed the version on the Compaq CD. Now I get the dreaded, but interesting, messages again to upgrade. Will my old version install under the new OS? If not, where can I obtain new registration information?

I am having the same trouble with TuBu and my Casio E-200. I tried your tip of creating a TuBu.zip file on my SD card, but TuBu still tries to perform the backup to my "Built In Storage" on the Casio. If you have any other tips on this one, I would greatly appreciate the help.

hi Ed,

I am a software engineer that can answer your question. In settings, personal, sounds is where you change and restore sounds. If it erased your files, you can download custom really cool sounds from the internet. You just copy the sounds in the exact same name(menupop.wav), (menusel.wav). You can find entire theme sounds on the internet. On my ipaq I have startap also. I have really cool space sounds for everything. Let's see. . .

Not StarTap per se, but something similar for the Today Page.

Memory Compact was a problem on the Casios. I don't think it's an issue
with PPC02.

Indeed, there will be a new GigaBar *very* soon, and a new StarTap
shortly after.

That's a good idea. I was away from my syncing cable last night so I did
what was the easiest.
If no one else is having a problem with StarTap and the e200, tell me
please, are you working on making StarTap a program that would use the
Today Page?

Also, is there any problem with any of the options in StarTap?
Specifically, the compacting of memory.

Lastly, do you plan on any other updates in the near future?

I received my e200 yesterday and promptly put on startap. I had my unit crash.
Is there a new version for the pc02?
Please let me know. I don't want to keep reinstalling programs.

My unit would crash this way. I would turn of my casio and when I turned it back on, I would just see a white light. None of the programs would work. I had to hard reset it to get any functions working again.
Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

I was trying out the latest demo of StarTap, and changed themes. I soft-reset, and decided I didn't like the theme. But now I can't get the MenuPop sound to work for any of my menus anymore!

I am running PPC2k2 and there is no way to change the event in Control Panel. I uninstalled StarTap, but still no sounds. Help!

I have been a long fan of Startap/Startler/Starbuck/ for some time.
I have purchased the above, but find my old PIN codes dont work with Startap v5.0

I have just upgraded my iPAQ HP3630 to PC2002, and installed StarTap from the Compaq CD, but none of my old codes will activate the upgrade.

Do I really have to purchase Startap again ?

Alas, the jpg restriction is an arbitrary one. There's no reason that an
updated iTask can't use gif images as well. For images with large areas
of a single color, they are indeed smaller.

Will you be making your static image page able to support gif's as well as jpeg's? Needless to say, gif's are much smaller(load) and afford a broader selecton.

Sorry, Gene. I was going by the Gadgeteer review that said that the launcher program came preinstalled on the E200. I've just figured out that it's a part of the "menu" program on the Casio CD that has to be installed seperately. My apologies to you.

In addition to the TuBu problem (Still not resolved - see below - I'm using beta v. of SpriteSoft pocket backup) , I've also found that if I install GigaBar, my power icon disappears from the settings/system tab on the Casio. This does not affect performance in any way but again is a Casio only related problem on PPC 2002's. The icon reappears if Gigabar is uninstalled. I also don't seem to have the Casio Launcher and am wondering if this is also some sort of conflict with StarTap. Not that I ever use the launcher as StarTap is far superior but again this does seem to be a Casio E 200 only conflict. The HP version launcher on the 568 works fine alongside StarTap and all the icons appear in the settings screens when GigaBar is installed. I guess I'll have to uninstall StarTap just to see if the launcher program reappears too. Seems very odd that it's only the Casio E 200 that has these issues.

Thanks Gene, but still no luck. I uninstalled TuBu, created the TuBu.zip file on the storage card and reinstalled TuBu onto the storage card. It's still giving me the same error message. Also, despite specifying where to install TuBu, it's putting a copy of itself .exe file in the built in storage. I also tried putting in a brand new 64mb CF card and copying the zip file to that instead of the SD card and running TuBu again but once again got the no space error. My spouse has TuBu running just fine on a J568 PPC 2002 and as I said it works on my iPAQ which is also running PPC 2002. It's only the Casio that is having problems. It doesn't seem to be finding the zip or wanting to install the backup there. Any other "fake out" ideas? or any way to get TuBu.exe out of the built in storage? No matter how often it's deleted, as soon as you try and run TuBu it puts itself back in there no matter where it installed to in the first place. Thanks

It's a problem with the new units (PPC02). TuBu is seeing the built in
"Storage Card" as the *only* card, and trying to back up there.

The good news is that you should be able to fake it out!

Remove any TuBu.zip files that may exist in the built-in storage area.

Copy some small file to the Storage Card, and rename it, "TuBu.zip".

Run TuBu's backup. It should find the "zip" file, and use that location
for the new backup.

I have StarTap + and when I installed it, Tu Bu went to the built in storage "card" as Casio refers to it instead of my MMC card. I unistalled it, did a soft reset and tried installing just Tu Bu again specifically to the "SD" option in Active Sync. Once again, Tu Bu appeared in the built in storage as well as the the SD card. If I try and run it, I get the error message "not enough memory on card" even though there is tons of the MMC card. This seems to be a unique problem with the Casio as I also have an iPAQ 3850 and Tu Bu installed on it onto the card with no problem. Maybe because in the E200, the built in storage is called a card? Anyway, I'm not sure what to do about this. If I delete it from the built in storage, as soon as I run TuBu from the SD card using Explorer, it gives me the error message and installs itself onto the root of the built in storage. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks! Actually, there's a Capture function built into iTask itself.

Use iTask Settings to assign the Internal function of Delayed Capture
to, say, the Brightness menu.

Activate it, and then you have 4 seconds to set up the screen as you
wish before it fires.

Hi,
I called for the unlock code ($20)(iPAQ 3835/V5).
The help file for StarTap talks about a checkbox for Capture. I like the idea of that feature, but that space was missing on the image settings tab.
How can I obtain this feature?

The work you did to integrate into the iTask (or visa versa) is great. Truly one of best $20 I have spent.

Need to work a bit on the zip/unzip functions huh (adding a file). Did not associate zip files till I manually associated. (Maybe it would have with a soft reset - don't know).

On the new machines it's much simpler. Just use the built-in File
Explorer to run TuBu.exe from the Storage Card, and you should be all
set.

Indeed, Contacts, etc. should be restored only if necessary before you
can get back to the machine that you sync with. Then Zap them, so that
you don't get the duplicate problem.

Is there any way to do a restore after a hard reboot on the new PPC's. The "instructions" on the Tu Bu help say you have to press the exit key on the side but the new machines don't have an exit key. If not, I don't find Tu Bu a very useful addition. If you restore, you get twice as many contacts and agenda and notes etc when you first connect again with active sync and something inevitably gets changed. (for example note color or losing registration and having to reenter).
